The ability to capture and forecast a business', a machine's emissions, or any type of emission offsets is a heavily sought after capability. Orien has made it simple. Forecast emissions separately or combine them with your Orien maintenance data in our Emissions module for a holistic result. Orien has the capability show forecast the amount and the cost of the Green House Gas emissions. These can easily be configured to your specific requirements.

- Allocating Emissions to an asset/location
- Calculate and view Emission Reports

Emission Config
To define Emissions, select the Database Level and then select the Emission Config Module. The Emission config has several tabs:

Emission Type
- Define different types of Emissions or Offsets e.g. Emission Reductions

Emissions
- Define your Emissions and the unit they are captured in e.g. Tonnes or Kilograms

Compounds
- Define your Compounds and their cost. One compound must be defined as Primary for reporting purposes e.g. CO2
-
Emission Compounds
- Assign one or more Compounds, and the amount of a compound in an emission, to the Emission

Once these Emissions are defined, they can be allocated to any location or resource. This is covered in the Emissions Module section below.
Emission Module - Allocate
The Emissions module can be selected on any location or asset in the External Hierarchy or Working Area. The Validation Module contains 4 tabs: Allocate, Calculate, Reports, and Export. The Allocate tab contains all allocated emissions for the currently selected locations. Users can create new allocations, edit or delete existing allocations.
Calendar-based Recurrence Types e.g. Monthly will have a View Future Dates button which will show each occurrence of that Emission or Offset.
When creating a new emission allocation, most fields are required. Some fields will change based on the defined recurrence type. Below is a breakdown of the fields:

Description
- What is causing the occurrence of the Emission

Emission Type
- These are defined in the Emissions Config

Emission Scope
- Scope 1 - Direct emissions that are controlled by the business
- Scope 2 - Indirect Emissions from the business
- Scope 3 - Indirect upstream and downstream Emissions from the business' value chain

Emission
- These are defined in the Emissions Config

Recurrence Type
- How frequently this Emission will occur
- Start Date
- End Date

{Emission's Unit} per Interval
- How many Units of the Emission will occur each Recurrence interval. In the example below, how many m3 of water occurs each Calendar Day.
Emission Module - Allocate - Import
Users can export multiple location's Emissions allocations for bulk editing. Users can also allocate or delete allocations through the import - allowing for a quick implementation. Simply, select the Export option in the Allocate Tab:
Make the wanted changes in Excel, or Excel Online, and import them to your assets. This import has its own validations the ensure that the data you're importing has all the necessary details.
Emissions Module - Calculate
Once the Emissions are defined and allocated to a location, users can then calculate the emissions for each location. This generation occurs at the currently selected location and below.
Select Generate Now when you want to start an Emissions Generation. Users can then define: how long they want to forecast Emissions for, and if they want to regenerate every location or only those that have changed since the last generation (Stale).

- Number of Years
- Generate for Stale or All
- When a location or the config has changed since the last generation, it will be stale
Emissions Module - Reports and Exports
Once it has been successfully generated, Emission Reports and Exports will be available. All reports and charts available in the Reports tab can be exported in the Export tab. The reports tab contains interactive reports and is available at every location where a successful generation has occurred. Most reports and exports show the data of the currently selected location and all beneath it.
Below is an example of Orien's High + Low Chart where it highlights to upper and lower limits alongside the forecasted amount:
Simply change the Budget period to change the reporting time frame and grouping of dates or change which scopes you want to report on. This functionality is also available in Orien's Export tab:

Emissions Module - Tags
Once an Emissions Forecast has successfully generated, users can Tag the generation. This stores the tagged Generation at the current location. These tagged generations can be viewed at any time once tagged. Simply select the Historic Data option in the Reports or Export tabs to view previous data:
These are highly useful when comparing changes made to the Emissions forecast as comparisons can easily be drawn or viewed at any time.
Emissions Module - Resource Emissions
Note
Resource Emissions requires an Orien Budget to be generated beforehand as it utilises the labour, material, and Operational Cost forecast.
Orien can also contain Maintenance Data which utilising Labours, Materials, and Operational Costs (Fuel, Electricity) forecasts. Allocate emissions to these values so their forecasts in Orien's Budget Generation is included in the Emissions Calculations:
- Labour
- Allocate an Emission/s and Scope to all Labours - that emission amount is forecasted whenever a Labour Work Hour from any Maintenance action is completed
- Allocate a specific Emission to a single Labour for outlying emission values
- Materials
- Allocate an Emission/s and Scope to a specific material e.g. Engine so that emission value is added whenever that material is replaced
- Operational Costs
- Allocate an Emission/s and Scope to a specific Operational Cost so its emission value is added whenever the Operational Cost is used. This also is increased by the Rate of Operational Cost e.g. Fuel Burn Rate
