High-Level Packaging

Orien allows users to use tactics and activities from locations beneath them in the hierarchy. This is useful for creating an operation which spans across multiple assets. High-Level packaging functions similarly to normal packaging but a there are a few steps and checks beforehand.

Note

Please note that this can't be implemented in the assembly library as you can't structure an asset beneath another. Each Assembly Library asset needs to be independent.

Create High-Level Packaging

    1. Firstly, ensure that the location that you want to package (Parent) at a high-level has packaging enabled.
    2.  Check that the location/s that you want the activities to be sourced from (Children) are directly beneath the Parent. By minimising the Parent location, you shouldn't be able to see the Children and will look like the image below.

    3. Ensure that the Children's Tactics have been finalised.
    4. Sync Parent's Packaging. The Sync should now include all new and updated from children.
    5. Allocate Children's activities to the Parent's Operation.

On the Operation Activity Screen you'll be able to see the activity's location (Child 1 in this screenshot) is sourced from and what component it's allocated to.

Making changes to High-Level Packaging

When changes are wanted to be made to the high-level packaging, it'll function similarly to regular packaging. You'll need to:

      1. Create a new revision of the tactics of the Child that you want to edit.
      2. Edit and Finalise the Tactics.
        1. Tactics don't need to be finalised if you want to Sync Active Tactics. View our article here for more details
      3. Sync the Packaging at the Parent Location.
